Body-Solid
Body-Solid is a brand that's been trusted by home gym owners for decades. From superstar athletes like Michael Jordan to strength coaches like Nick Nilsson Body-Solid has been outfitting home gyms to meet every conceivable training goal. We've been fans of the Body-Solid product line since the early 2000s and several Body-Solid products are permanent fixtures in our garage gym. SPRFTS Functional Trainer
This is hands down the functional trainer I recommend to people who want a no frills, reliable option they can buy and use for twenty plus years. Built on the commercial SPR-1000 four post power rack frame, this functional trainer has everything you need for a great full body workout and nothing you don't. If cost is an issue, you can save a little money, by choosing the plate loaded version of this, the SPR Functional Trainer. The only potential drawback is the height. At 90 inches tall, the SPRFTS definitely needs to be in a garage, barn or other home workout space that's got plenty of ceiling clearance. So if you're in a basement, attic or other home gym space where ceiling clearance is an issue, we'd recommend the Body-Solid GPRFTS or the Body-Solid GPRFT.

GPRFTS
The Body-Solid GPRFTS has everything I described from the Body-Solid SPRFTS just at a more compact 79" height. A couple of key points: The basic rack is the GPR-400 to which you can then add the GPRFTS attachment which turns a four post power rack into a six post rack/functional trainer combo. Just like the SPRFT and the SPRFTS you can choose between the plate loaded GPRFT or the selectorized stack of the GPRFTS depending on your budget. Here's a quick breakdown of the differences between both to help you choose.

GVLP Vertical Leg Press
The Body-Solid GVLP Vertical Leg Press is a versatile, safe, and most of all, effective leg workout machine. It targets key muscle groups, minimizes back and shoulder stress, and accommodates various fitness levels with adjustable heights and a high weight capacity. When we saw it at HFA 2025, it immediately caught our eye because of its space saving footprint. Its compact design, smooth operation, and comfortable features make it an ideal choice for a compact home leg press solution that's also robust enough for light commercial use.

SJG Jungle Gym
If you've got the room for it, the Body-Solid SJG Jungle Gym is a fantastic training station that can accommodate multiple users at once. This would have been a game changer when John was training groups of 5-10 middle and high schoolers in our garage gym in the early 2000s! We had a chance to check it out during HFA 2026 and we were extremely impressed with how easy it was to use and how many features and attachments it includes. While it is larger than some options, you are able to customize it to your needs. Start with the versatile 4-stack SJG100 and seamlessly expand to a 5-stack SJG500 or even a powerful 8-stack SJG800 machine. This is definitely not for a home gym with an extremely small footprint but if you train groups of athletes like our friend, Anna does in her barn in rural Kansas or our friends, David and Christie do in their detached building in rural Arkansas, then this might be a good fit for you!
