The RitFit BLP01 Leg Press/Hack Squat Combo is an aesthetically pleasing, compact and multi functional piece that will fit in most home gyms. RitFit has created a product that looks good and is fairy easy to assemble in under an hour. One of the best features of this product is how smoothly the guide rods operate, making it a great option for late night workouts that won’t disturb the rest of the family. Where it’s not as impressive is in the product dimensions which aren’t a good fit for a broad enough range of body types. Before you head to the RitFit online store to grab one, check out our review.

What It Does Well
- Size – For space conscious home gym owners, the idea of having two pieces of leg training equipment in one is an attractive prospect.
- Easy to Switch Between Modes – The best combination machines are simple to switch from one configuration to the next and the BLP01 really shines in this respect. It takes less than a two minutes to move the support pad from either the top if it’s in hack squat mode to down at the bottom to configure it for the leg press.
- Appearance – RitFit BLP01 is a good looking piece of equipment. The black finish of the metal parts blends well with the black cushion and makes the white lettering in the RitFit logo stand out without being too in your face. This isn’t something you would store in your living room, but it will make any home gym look a little more upscale and professional.
It’s Not Built For Everybody
The major issues with the RitFit BLP01 are design flaws that don’t take ergonomics for a large enough population into account. Our reviewer, Ashley, had issues with unlocking and locking the adjustable side rail handles because at 5’10”, Ashley was in between the top two safety catches. So she either had to squat down uncomfortably low or go up on her tiptoes to lock and unlock the side rail handles in the hack squat position. Her legs weren’t long enough to use the top locking position in the hack squat configuration and the middle safety catch was uncomfortably low for her. But, a review on the RitFit website for this product from someone who is slightly shorter at 5’7″ said that the machine was a perfect fit. So this product seems to be a best fit for people in a narrow height range. Ashley also had issues with the width of the shoulder pads in the hack squat and the lack of head and neck support in both the hack squat and leg press configurations and she mentioned that a longer footplate would allow her to better target her glutes in the hack squat position.
Final Thoughts
As a compact exercise option for the home gym, the RitFit BLP01 is a solid effort that could be an outstanding piece with a few simple tweaks. Adding a fourth safety catch to the adjustable side rail handles would allow users who are between 5’8 – 5’10’ tall to lock and unlock the machine with greater ease and start from their most stable, strongest position. Adding a longer footplate and a headrest would further increase stability and allow users to focus on the muscle groups that are working rather than having to hold their heads up in an awkward position throughout the duration of each set.
