No Bench? No Problem! Four Ways to Floor Press without a Spotter!

Four options to floor press without a spotter!

New home gym owners don’t have to go without horizontal pressing if they don’t have a bench press at home. If you plan to return to your gym membership once the quarantine lifts, performing the floor press is a great way to maintain or even improve your bench press because it works a part of the range of motion where lifters are normally weak.

If you’re converting permanently to the home gym lifestyle (Best Gym In Town and all that) then the floor press still deserves a place in your normal routine because of it’s functionality.

side note: The Pullover and Press the way I demonstrated it is still contested as I said in the USAWA and the heaviest recorded floor press I’ve found for women is by Jacqueline Caron in 1992 of 132lbs in the 65 kilogram weight class. (They list weight classes in kilograms but the weight lifted in pounds.) The record for the heaviest floor press by a man in their records was 381lbs by Eric Todd in the 120 kilogram weight class in 2015. You can find those records at https://usawa.com/about-us-2/record-list-2/.
