New Podcast on YouTube

I just wrapped episode one of my new podcast on YouTube, the “It’s Waaay Too Early For A Friday!” podcast! With new episodes streaming live every Friday morning at 6:30 am EST/3:30 am PST it’s the perfect way to start your day with an entertaining mix of guests from around home gym culture, shout outs to viewers, reactions to home workout clips and more! The podcast is similar to a morning drive radio show with multiple fun segments and rotating guests, but from a home gym perspective!

Why Did I Start A New Podcast on YouTube?

YouTube is probably one of the best places to podcast both for the viewer and for the creator. By creating a podcast on the YouTube platform, you get the option of a visual medium for people who want to sit and watch but it’s also possible because of smartphones for people to take the content with them in the car or listen to it while doing chores around the house. And people who listen to your content, often want to see what’s going on while you’re talking. That’s why so many morning talk radio programs now have YouTube channels so you can watch the show instead of just listening to it!

But Did We Really NEED Another Podcast?

I listen to a LOT of home gym content and quite frankly, a lot of it is boring. Most of it is the sort of thing that you

  • Have to be in the mood to watch
  • Doesn’t lend itself well to our modern lifestyle where we want to be able to take things on the go

So even though I already had a podcast on YouTube, the Garage Gym Life podcast, I wanted to give the home gym community, something that would still be informative but would also be entertaining enough to listen to while you’re getting ready for your day or catching a morning workout session without disrupting your routine. I think the Waay Too Early For A Friday! podcast checks all of those boxes.

Shoutout to My Wife for the Idea

My wife loves to listen to vlogs and other YouTube content but she rarely sits still to watch it. Instead, she puts in her AirPods and tunes in on her phone then goes about her daily routine. It’s normal to come into our kitchen and see her listening to some YouTube cooking channel or beauty vlog and only occasionally glancing over at her phone to see what the host is doing. She does something similar with morning drivetime radio. Even though she works from home, my wife still enjoys listening to morning shows while she’s in the shower and getting ready for her work day. When she gets in the car to take our daughter to school, she continues to listen to the program in the car and comes back home, still listening to it without missing a beat! A lightbulb went off in my head one day as I realized that this was what I was looking for to bring something fresh to the home gym community on YouTube!

What To Expect

The Waaay Too Early For A Friday! podcast format is continuing to evolve but it’s always going to have a few key features:

  • Each show is divided up into shorter segments that will be time stamped so replay viewers can jump straight to the part they want to hear most
  • Each show will feature live reactions from viewers including the opportunity to ask questions of our guests
  • Each episode will feature some sort of viewer shoutout segment where we play home workout clips submitted by viewers through our Instagram account.
