My first product from Major Lutie Fitness is the Major Lutie Raptor F22. This is my second power rack in what I call the budget tier or starter rack category and I was excited to see how it would perform compared to my last budget friendly rack, the Mikolo F4 Power Cage.
Who Is Major Lutie?
Major Lutie Fitness is a brand that I only became aware of last year and I was intrigued because they have a warehouse about 30 minutes drive from my house. I actually visited the warehouse to see if I could get a tour of their facility the way I have for Fringe Sport, Spud, Inc. and Lynx Barbell but unfortunately no one was there when I arrived. In any case, the brand makes power racks that seem to be fairly budget friendly if you just get the base model, so I decided to give their new Raptor F22 a try.
About the Raptor F22
The Major Lutie Raptor F22 is a 2×3 half rack with an integrated functional trainer on the front posts. It’s specifically designed for home gym use, with a smaller footprint at just 68.9 inches from one side to the other and only 82.5 inches tall, to accommodate shorter ceilings. I chose this for my first product from Major Lutie Fitness over their more popular PLM03 because frankly there are plenty of reviews of that product already out there and I prefer to get new information out there rather than just going over the same ground that other reviewers have already covered. Here are some quick facts about the Raptor F22
- Six band pegs (four on the bottom and two at the top) for a variety of band assisted and band resisted movements
- Dual Independent Pulley System with 17 holes to adjust the height for multiple exercises like curls, flyes, reverse flyes, seated and standing rows, etc.
- Reinforced Safety Spotter Arms rated at an 800lbs capacity
- Three color options (Black, White and Red)
Watch My First Impressions of the Major Lutie Raptor F22
At this point, I’m still in the testing phase but I’ve already had a couple of workouts with this rack and it seems like a decent option if this is your first power rack. I’ve still got some safety testing to do before I can give it my seal of approval but so far it seems like it’s not a bad design for your first home gym. By the way, I published a full first impressions video on my YouTube channel going over what I’m looking for from this rack, my initial thoughts after my wife and I put it together and how I learned which way to face if I plan to do dips on this rack! You can check that out in the link below this paragraph.
Where Is Major Lutie Made?
Major Lutie racks are obviously made overseas as most of the measurements are metric instead of imperial like we use here in the United States. This makes it easier for them to keep costs down, but ultimately for me, it’s the safety, durability and dependability of the rack that matters because if something goes wrong during a home gym workout, there’s often nobody available to call for help!
