The Mammoth Strength Challenge V Pro Am was the centerpiece of a massive strongman weekend last Saturday, January 23 and Garage Gym Life Media was on hand to cover all of the action for our YouTube audience! This was an exciting way to kick off 2021 as we were asked to live stream both the Mammoth Strength Challenge V Pro Am and the Masters Nationals for Strongman Corporation! You can check out the official live stream replay on our YouTube channel as several home gym owners put on a great display! Event promoter, David Waters, has really grown this competition from humble beginnings to a top Platinum Plus event, featuring many of the top professional strongman competitors in the USA. We’re working on getting an interview with one of those competitors, home gym owner, Stanley Carradine as we speak.
For those who aren’t aware, becoming a Platinum Plus event qualifies the top three placers and offers a spot to the Arnold World Championships. Because it’s also a Pro-Am, the Mammoth potentially can offer pro cards in the noted “division” going forward. Both professional athletes and amateurs compete together in hopes of qualifying for a spot at the Arnold Strongman World Championships.
Mammoth Strength After Action Review
We realize that several of our viewers on YouTube were hungry for more after the Mammoth Strength Challenge V so we caught up to promoter, David Waters, to get his reactions and find out how he’s going to step up his game to improve for the Mammoth Strength Challenge VI which is already in the planning phase! (One of those developments will be of HUGE significance to female strongman competitors!) We also talked about where we need to improve as far as the live stream production. There were injury updates provided on competitor Steve Fotion, who was injured during an Axle Clean and Press event in Masters Nationals plus Dave gave the back story behind Steve Schmidt’s amazing 370 pound world record Mouser Block press!
Finally, Dave took the opportunity to answer some of the questions that our viewers had, such as what happened to the Arm over Arm Truck Pull event which was scheduled but never happened? The truck was set up, the rope was attached and the competitors were in place, then suddenly everything shut down! Find out the scoop in our exclusive interview with David Waters on the Garage Gym Life Media YouTube channel!
Interview with Strongman Jamie Wilson
As another follow up to the Mammoth weekend, we sat down with home gym owner, Jamie Wilson, who attempted to break the world record in the Mouser Block. Jamie, who is a survivor of Crohn’s Disease, shares his candid feelings about his performance in the Record Breakers event at the Mammoth Strength Challenge V Pro Am. We talked about what Jamie learned from his unsuccessful attempt, including how the environment on such a large platform affected even him as a seasoned strongman competitor. We spent time talking about his plans for 2021 including competitions and what he’s changing in his training to be ready to attempt the record again next year. Plus we talk about his home gym, the Iron Shakk and how you can train there! Watch the entire interview exclusively on the Garage Gym Life Media YouTube channel.
