Some of those who rebel against Black Friday sales with me

Our Counter Culture Black Friday Sales Pitch

Black Friday means something different at my house and in our business. We opt out. No online selling or buying. No standing in line to fight strangers for commercial goods we’ve already lived without our entire lives.

So We Opt Out of Black Friday Sales

For the past four years, all we’ve done on the two days of Thanksgiving is spend time with family and spend an hour each day working out as a way to give thanks to our Creator for allowing us the ability to move. The Friday after Thanksgiving is the occasion for a quiet rebellion against what I see as an insidious trend in our culture away from the family values that nurtured our society.

Our culture is an amazing one, even with all of it’s imperfections and flaws. And I don’t believe that casting aside thankfulness for what we have, less than twenty-hours after we claimed to hold it in high esteem, will fix any of the things that are wrong with our nation. But I do believe that shifting our focus back to the values our forefathers held dear can change things for the better. So we rebel every year against Black Friday sales.

This year will be no different.

I do understand that businesses depend on Black Friday sales so I patronize the businesses I believe in before Black Friday and on Cyber Monday.

Hope that makes sense. But regardless, it’s what I believe and I stand by it.  Even if I stand alone.
