Burn.Fit App Review

My wife and I just tried the Burn.Fit app by Bunnit, a South Korean fitness tech brand and we were pretty impressed. One question we had going in was is this better than Sweat app which my wife has used before and loved. We’re going to be using the app for the next thirty days before giving our final verdict but our preliminary Burn.Fit app review is we love it. Let’s get into why.

Cost

The Burn.Fit app features a free version and a pro version which comes in at $5.99 a month/$49.99 a year. Compare that to $19.99/month or $54.99 every three months for the Sweat app and you can see that’s already a tremendous savings over the Sweat app which is one reason that users like Kayla Krantz are moving away from Sweat in favor of other options.

Burn.Fit App Features

The Burn.Fit app features a free version and a pro version which comes in at $49.99 a year. That’s already a tremendous savings over the Sweat app which is one reason that users like Kayla Krantz are moving away from Sweat. Burn.Fit features a number of pre loaded program options like Madcow 5×5, Starting Strength and 5/3/1 which long time lifters will recognize. Program templates that are more lifter oriented is a huge reason that I was attracted to the Burn.Fit app because it seems as if most fitness apps are geared more towards casual lifters or more cardio based exercise routines which frankly don’t hold any interest for me. Here’s a list of the features included in the Burn.Fit app:

  • Workout Tracker
  • Comprehensive exercise library
  • Integration with YouTube
  • Integration with Apple Watch
  • Individual Workout routines (Limited to two per user in the free version. Unlimited for Pro version)
  • Ability to add exercises to the library
  • Monthly and annual membership plans

Background on the Burn.Fit App

The Burn.Fit app was created by a team of exercise enthusiasts from the South Korean app developer, Bunnit as a way to help users track their progress and stay motivated to train. The app was voted The Best Workout Data Tracking app by Forbes Health in 2022 and one of the Forbes Health best fitness apps in 2023 and has logged over 500,000 downloads since being added to the Apple and Google Play stores.

It’s Not Perfect

The app does have some bugs that the development team are still working through, there’s currently a glitch that prevents you from entering your gender because it defaults to strength level for some reason. (note: I reached out to Bunnit and Paul Lee from the team, explained that “We’d like to ask about your strength level so we can tailor an exercise routine that aligns with your level,” which is a perfectly valid answer but it’s still odd that the app asks for gender in the first place. Paul assured me that this due to an issue with incorrect coding that they are addressing but he continued that, “Our focus is on aligning recommendations with your self-assessed strength level rather than gender, as our app is dedicated to weight training” so I believe that the question about strength level will remain once the gender selection option is fixed. Another issue is the program templates all begin on week one, day one, which can be an issue if you (like me) have already been following a program that’s in the Burn.Fit library and you want to transfer your data over for the sake of better record keeping.

No Live Classes or Nutrition Help

Burn.Fit is a training app for lifters who don’t need or want live classes. It’s not a substitute for something like Bodi or Peloton but if you don’t need motivation from a live trainer, this might be a good fit for you. If you’d like some video based guidance from a trainer or coach, the app does offer the option to import follow along workouts from YouTube that you choose simply by copying and pasting the url during the routine creation step.

I Still Like It

Those issues aside, I think the Burn.Fit app is definitely worth at least the seven day free trial if you’re looking for a fitness app that will track your workouts and comes with an exercise library but you don’t need live classes or help with nutrition.
