The Thermabell Barbell Warmer is here! We first heard about this product about a year and a half ago when they were still running their Kickstarter campaign and I’m excited to see it hit the market.
Thermabell President and developer, Greg Burton, told me that he began researching barbell warming solutions while he was a student at BYU-Idaho, because he “was training with an Olympic weightlifting team in a tiny 20’ x 20’ auto garage with thin walls made of sheet metal. It was common to see temperatures fall below 0°F, which meant a frigid gym with freezing cold barbells.” More than two years of product testing later and the Thermabell Barbell Warmer has hit the market and is being distributed by another pioneer in the home gym equipment field, PRx Performance.
Downsides of the Thermabell Barbell Warmer
The only thing I dislike about this product is that I don’t train in an environment that’s cold enough to use one. It’s definitely something that I would recommend for home gym owners in colder climates, (I’m looking at you Minnesota, Maine and Illinois!).
Once the product hit social media, you had the usual trolls talking about how useless it is, but those people probably DON’T train in extremely cold temperatures.
Unfortunately, the product isn’t available outside the continental United States, but if it takes off like I think it could, then home gym owners in places like Norway will finally have a solution to the freezing temperatures that quite frankly, make training with a barbell dangerous.
