Jaisyn Mike shares tips to help new lifters decide where to compete in their first powerlifting meet in his first interview for the Garage Gym Life Media YouTube channel. The question of where a new lifter should compete depends on several factors and those factors can change over time. As a lifter, you’re spending your hard earned money every time you compete and all of that can be derailed if you don’t have a positive meet experience.
That makes this decision a huge one for brand new lifters to the sport of powerlifting. So who better to guide you than an IPF Bench Press World Record Holder like Jaisyn Mike?
Who is Jaisyn Mike?
Jaisyn Mike holds the Open International Powerlifting Federation Bench Press record at 619.5lbs making him one of the strongest benchers in history. Even more impressive considering that he set this record as a Masters lifter, in a drug tested federation known for some of the strictest judging in powerlifting. But even more than that, Jaisyn has not only competed in several federations as well as coaching athletes himself, he’s also experienced first hand what can happen to a lifter when the federation he’s competing in isn’t the right fit for him. That’s why we knew that he was the perfect person to answer this question!
So What’s the Best Powerlifting Federation?
Find out in this video in which Mr. Athletic Over Everything explains how he would advise someone new to powerlifting as they decide which powerlifting federation is best for them. His reasoning makes a ton of sense but also isn’t a standard cookie cutter answer. You’re going to learn a lot in the video interview so remember to like it, subscribe and share it with your friends!
